  1. Thanks for taking time to reply. I'm going to learn the lesson about field cleaning my shrooms, there won't be any dirt taken home anymore . I didn't have time to go and see the Agaricus, maybe tomorrow. Hopefully it's still there. I used a food dehydrator on a fresh batch of young bolete and they have a really mild, nutty flavor (raw. It's my first time eating them like that. It's like eating potato chips but with much much better taste and texture ). I'm loving it. Can't wait to find more and prepare for winter ...because winter is coming . Thanks again Ladyflyfish, Dave and Cedric. I'll keep the site updated about what treasures I'll find in my area
  2. Oh boy I'm excited !! I've found the holy grail of bolete regarding quantity and quality of course . We've found so many that we decided to take two trips in order to collect as many as possible. I was so excited that I even collected specimens full of maggots but I was carried away by a "boletus rush" and it couldn't be helped . It's full season here I think, I'm going next week too. Any suggestion how to conserve them for winter ? My mom cooks them a bit then they go in the freezer and I heard that they can be dried. If so how is that done ? I've also found some Chalciporus piperatus ... they are as peppery as tabasco (I love it )... Their taste and yellowish stem gave them away ....I hope I'm right about them cause I've already eaten one raw (couldn't ressist) Here is something I couldn't identify. Could it be some Amanita species ? Dunno ... I've also found what I think is Coprinus comatus.... I had a great time, posting as soon as I find something new
  3. You're welcome John . Tomorrow hopefully there will be more
  4. Thanks Dave for taking time and replying. I'm very excited that I was able to make good ID's and I really like your explanations about the mushrooms About the Leccinum the thing is that I recently acquired a guide book about Transylvania's mushrooms and searching trough that I've found the matching characteristics described at Leccinum pseudoscabrum thats why I mentioned it, but now reading it again I see that L.scabrum is mentioned as a possible species to be confused with . It is the first time that I found Clytocibe odora (or something that is alike) but I'm pretty sure about the anise smell although I haven't eaten from it .... maybe next time Where can I read more about the Chalciporus ? I'm not really familiar with it but it would be quite nice to find peppery tasting mushrooms, I like spicy food Indeed the Bolete were very tasty, my mom makes a delicious stew out of it ... I dare to say it's as good as eating meat I can't wait until tomorrow to go out and hunt for more. Good day to you sir!
  5. Hi, I went out in the woods last Friday and found these. I managed to identify a few of them like Cratellus cornicopioides (the black "trumpets" top left), Boletus edibulis (on the right) and Cantharellus cibarius (yellow ones in the middle) . However the other ones I only suspect what they might be. These I think are Clitocybe Odora mainly because they smell like anise (spice) This one I think is Hydnum Repandum I suppose these are Leccinum Pseudoscabrum Could this be Hericium Coralloides ? I've found it on a stump. This little red one I wasn't able to find in my guide book. All the mushroom were found in a beech/oak forest except for the Bolete which were in a pine forest. And finally something I've found today on a meadow. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me so I took some pictures after I got back home. These are from the Agaricus genum. They are delicious and huge. I hope you enjoyed my post and that you can help me with the ID's. Have a nice day
