  1. Found in Olympia WA near Doug fir. Are there any lookalikes in Western U.S.? Thanks!
  2. Just wanted to share a nice pic this morning tromping around the woods. The rotten stump, mushrooms and mosses made a pretty vignette!
  3. They are in a neat patch of forest that is actually quite mixed- large doug fir, hemlock, maple, and some cedar (as opposed to most of the areas around here that have been turned into single-species areas). You can't quite see them, but in the background of the pic with 'shrooms in the ground is the start of a large patch of chanterelles. I would have missed them if I hadn't side-tracked my path through the woods to marvel over russulas!
  4. Felt like Alice in Wonderland when I got in the midst of those! Thanks for the tentative ID vitog, if I see any turning orange I'll have to have someone confirm locally for me.
  5. We found several patches of these growing in mixed conifer/decidous forest. Very large, vase-shaped mushroom with gills extending down but not attached to the stem. Didn't bring any home for a spore print. Any idea what they are? Thank you!
