  1. Can't seem to figure this one out. Didn't grab it to spore print because I was working. Found under a gutter spout behind a nursing home.
  2. It seems name changes happen frequently if not at least sooner than my books publish date. I'm using a couple books but my go to is the National Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Mushrooms. I've noticed sometimes my thoughts of ID are similar but sometimes slightly different names than yours Dave. That said, do you or any one else have additional books to add to my repertoire? My thoughts Yellow cluster/ Sulfur Tuft / Naematoloma fasciculare Differance between that and Hypholoma? Same when searched Brown spore print Red cap/ Emetic Russula / Russula emetica White/ cream spore print At a lost for the brown cap No grooves on cap, ring on stalk. found in Sandy grass under laurel oak
  3. Just noticed these little guys too. In a Pine straw and leaf bed.
  4. Here are a couple I found out in the front yard today. Doing a spore print now. They are on the smaller size. All of them are on 12 inch paper plate.
  5. Spore print was hard to see but it looked to be brown or a brownish green.
  6. Found these in the park today on a sandy grass area. Bruised blue immediately within seconds on all parts of mushroom.
  7. That was my thoughts as well. Breaded and fried the puffball tonight along side some sautéed spinach and pierogis. Mmm mm. Just pulled the spore print and it was green. In my book it was called green-spored Lepiota Chlorophyllum molybdites Thanks Dave.
  8. Here's one split in half next to a coffee cup for comparison
  9. Lots of stuff popping up after a weeks worth of rain and temps cooling down. Ids on these? Edible?
  10. I cooked some up tonight and jerky would be a good use. It's basically there with out any help. Taste good though.
  11. Any one have a recipe they like and would share? It's a lot of mushroom and not enough people to share with. I was also thinking of freezing a couple pieces, do you think fresh or par boiled would be better?
  12. It's been a while but finally had some time to get back out there. Found this the other day in an older neighborhood in a yard. Growing on the grass but looks like it could have buried tree stumps around. My first thought was hen of the woods but now I'm thinking Black staining polypore. It definitely shows some black bruising around the edges and broken pieces from the ride home. Thanks for your thoughts.
  13. I noticed the fuzz in the gills as well and thought that was odd. When you put it all together and look more into the pictures as well as the mushrooms themselves , everything you say makes since. Been looking into the Syzygites megalocarpus but can't seem to find anything about it effecting the edibilty. I would think to throw cation to it in any case. What are your thoughts on its edibilty in the small amounts seen here? It would seem more obvious in some of the Google images but in a case like this it could be over looked and eaten by mistake.
