1left
Usually find my first batch of Chanterelle in the same area every year, unfortunately today I noticed they very recently harvested the trees so this may be my last gathering from this site of Jack pine with plenty of fresh smelling sweet fern pleasant in the air as I gather these young chanterelle here today. Anyway the season has begun up here in NB Canada
Evan
Nice to see you found some chants, but sorry to hear that this may be the last year for that spot. One of my morel spots was partially cleared a few years ago but luckily it was just for aesthetics and most of the trees are still there. I hope you have some other places to hunt. John Smalldridge
Those look tasty! I went out today and harvested about a pound and a half of chanterelles here in eastern N.C. It's always good to keep your eyes open for new sites just in case your old sites fail to produce. Also, things change and we're never promised a good mushroom season, so we should always savor every harvest of every season like it's our last. 1left
I do like to visit new forest areas frequently from July to Nov. so I often find something of interest be it mushrooms or plants usually though not the plant or mushroom I was primarily expecting to find. This has been beneficial in increasing my list of edibles and my interest in nature in general as just seeing these things in a certain stage of growth can be amazing, as was the case the other day with an unknown Clitocybe in all its glory which I will post in the Identifying forum soon. Evan
Finally found a few today. We have had minimal rain so I was happy to find a few. They went well with the CSA veggies and the quail we thinned out.
