RaffD
Was looking for a new walking stick...found some shrooms on the way. The two above I have no idea. They may be the same species as the two below images found elsewere. Again no idea what the two above are. My original guess for the above two was Wood Ear, Auricularia auricula, but upon closer inspection the colour didn't make sense...it could be a Tremella ? This my hiking buddy was shocked by...a large and long gone Tree Coal, Fomes fomentarius, was my guess. These im 90% sure are Black Fingers, or Dead Man's Fingers as the guide says, Xylaria polymorpha. still no Oysters...but atleast I have a new walking stick
RaffD
Upon consulting the guide I believe the first 4 are all Velvet Stalk, Flammulina velutipes. Guide says slimy when wet but these were very sticky. Should I try some?
Dave W
To be more confident about your Flammulina ID (I think that's what the first 4 photos show), take a spore print. Print should be white. Dead Man's Fingers... Yup. Xylaria polymorpha. I think Tremmela makes more sense than Auricularia for those ribbon-like growths.
