Dave W
A "2015 mushroom photos" topic was posted here awhile back. http://www.wildmushroomhunting.org/index.php/topic/2087-post-your-2015-photos/ I got as far as through the letter "C" for genus names of things I photographed last year. Gonna see how far through the alphabet I can get before Spring arrives, and I'm back outside more than inside. Dacrymyces chrysospermus, False Witch's Butter. Looks a lot like the yellow Tremella species, true Witch's Butter. Dacrymyces grows on coniferous wood and Tremella on hardwood. Daedalopsis confragosa, a type of "Maze Polypore". Note the reddish-brown bruise on the pores. Deconica coprophila, a dung-loving mushroom. Daldinia childiae, or possibly some other species of Daldina. Called "Carbon Balls". Note the concentric arrangement of arcs in the cross-section.
Tasso
Really nice photos. I look forward to you working your way through the alphabet.
Dave W
Well, D was a pretty sparse letter. So I'll move on to E. Lots and lots of Entolomas... except it's so difficult to put species names on many of the Entolomas.
