Dave W
Hit one of my best spots for the first time this summer. A low-lying area that I figured needed a little time to dry out after all the rain a week or so ago. Drying some, freezing (after sauteing) most, and thawed out some trout to fry up with a bunch. I love the combo of trout and chanties. Smooth Chanterelles (Cantharellus lateritius). These have been growing for awhile; the fertile surface has developed folds/veins. 1shotwade
Nice find Dave! We have slowed down a lot here. Still finding an occasional eatable but nothing like a month ago. Waiting for the late season flush's. Wade
dualsetters
Look like some prime mushrooms Dave. Supposed to have 5 rain free days here the rest of the week. Maybe I'll start finding some in my normal spots.
eat-bolete
Send some rain over pleaaaaaaase! We have 0.2" forecasted for the next 10 days! Those chanties look too good:)
John Smalldridge
You seem to be having a banner year for mushrooms in your neck of the woods. It's still too dry here in eastern N.C. Hopefully we will get some rain before fall.
Dave W
Up until now, best summer in memory around here. The only thing I haven't seen in good quantity are the good hardwood boletes... like B. separans and B. variipes. Mushroom species sometimes take a year off for reasons known only to the mushrooms. Lots of B. edulis though, which has now shut down. This is typical for eduils in mid summer. If the rains return later --September-- then the edulis is likely to also return. Old Oak
I've been finding some B. variipes...literally one per outing. It's kind of disappointing to find so few, but I've enjoyed the new to me mushroom! I'll post some pics next time (hopefully) that I find some.
