Baby oysters.

Recommended Posts

It's been about Two to three days since our last below freezing temps and the oyster mushrooms are already fruiting again. The unfortunate thing is they are already being attacked by bugs. The conditions look good for the next few days for the oysters to continue growing. The clusters In the first two photos could be covered by a U.S. half dollar coin.

The next one you can see the bugs mating on the mushrooms. There were older rotting oyster mushrooms nearby, but the bugs only attacked the newly fruiting mushrooms.

These were just a little further along in the growth cycle.

I was out yesterday and found what i think are oysters. They didn't look to be at first, but they were gilled to the tree. Maple i believe. I found a fresh popped cinnabar polypore to; it was still soft. Temperatures are back to low 30s high 20s tonight so I'm not getting my hopes up.
