GratefulJohn
Hello! Found a BUNCH of these this weekend in So. NH. I have never found oysters this late in the year, but can't see what else they could be. They were on a rotten log. No serrations on the gills, no stems. Thoughts? thanks! John Smalldridge
They look like oysters to me. I'm down here in N.C. and find them all winter long. Whenever we have a warm day or two during the winter they seem to pop up.
Dave W
These are very likely a Pleurotus species (true Oyster Mushrooms). Pleurocybella porrigens, which grows on coniferous wood, is not as thick-fleshed as the mushrooms seen here. Also, GratefulJohn, good call on the gills not being serrated/toothed. This eliminates the Lentinus and Lentinellus species from consideration.
GratefulJohn
Thanks for the feedback. I don't believe there are any dangerous look-a-likes...so I think I'll give them a try!

4rum
I found some mushrooms like these yesterday 11-12-14. I did take photos ... they are on my thumb drive at the old place. No internet there. Forgot to bring the drive here with me this morning. I'll try to remember to pick it up later or tomorrow. Good photos GratefulJohn. Please post about dinner!
