John Smalldridge
I haven't been posting much lately because I have not had Internet access and really just did not have much to post. So I took the dog out for a walk Saturday after work and stuck a bag in my pocket just in case I saw something worth harvesting. We have not had much rain lately, so I was not expecting much, well, I got my first surprise just around the first turn in the trail. A three to four pound Hericium and two smaller ones. And then just on the other side of the trail I see something that I think might be a lactarius. I was mistaken! Hydnum repandum, these were about 4 in. across. A few more turns down the trail and I see this. My first laetiporus sulphureus. I have only ever seen L. cincinnatus in this area. And the woods were full of armillaria mellea. You could have filled a trash bag with them.
