weekendwoodsman
Hi Folks, I'm new to the forum and to mushroom foraging in general. I'm starting off slowly, mostly photographing this year but I might cook a few mushrooms if I can get positive ids. I've found boletes here in the central part of the island of Newfoundland in what I would describe as inland mixed spruce/birch forest. I'm having trouble identifying it. Is this a member of the genus Boletinellus? I also found some large Boletes that appeared to be soggy. Are these King Boletes?
Dave W
Top photos, bolete with bright yellow pores. My guess is Boletus subtomentosus. Cap color varies from slightly reddish-brown to olivaceus-brown. Lower photos are not Boletus edulis. These are a species of Leccinum, possibly L. scabrum, as I see no staining on the cut flesh. The blackish dots (scabers) on the stalk are the telling trait.

Cedric
Agree with Dave on the Leccinum, possibly Scabrum. There are several similar ones.
